My Fifth Act

Giving thanks! The best way to show you care is to help others with their problems!
For my Thanksgiving act, I have donated turkeys to the homeless...
On Sunday, November 14, I went to my church. After service, my mother, sister, and I hurried downstairs after making an announcement about when we would be leaving to donate the turkeys.
"Why are we doing this?" you ask, or maybe "How did you get involved?", well the previous week after service there was an announcement that one of the women was gathering any turkeys to donate to the homeless at St. Francis's church, in Portland. Many people couldn't, but some would the following week. One problem for them! The woman couldn't attend the following Sunday due to a prior engagement, so my mother and I volunteered. Low and behold, we found ourselves collecting the turkeys on the 14th to donate.
The total of turkeys donated that day ended up being eight. Two from my family, six from others. Pretty good, right? A nice amount, I believe.

Remember: Sometimes, when you keep your eyes open for opportunities to volunteer, they just won't show up. When those times come, try taking charge of the moment and organizing an act. :) Happy Thanksgiving!

  1. That is a wonderful idea. A full tummy after a turkey dinner is a good way to feel loved and content, and everybody deserves that feeling!

How are you going to do this? Will you give specifics? What organization are you going to use to this end?
